78th Air Assault Regiment is a unit of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces.
It was formed at the onset of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, as a Separate Special Purpose Company of the Ukrainian National Guard. It rushed to defend the city of Kyiv and neighboring areas in Kyiv Oblast, with advancing Russian forces attempting to take the capital in the first few months of the invasion.
The unit was later reassigned to the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine and renamed the Brave League of Gentlemen, becoming a consolidated detachment.

On April 6, 2023, the unit was reformed as the 78th Special Purpose Regiment of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces. It would participate in the Ukrainian summer offensive towards Melitopol in 2023. Later, in August 2023, it would be reformed as the 78th Air Assault Regiment. The unit would be heavily engaged against Russian forces in the town of Robotyne.
In early 2024, the unit joined the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces.
Following the collapse of Avdiivka, the unit fought in the Kurakhove pocket. It later participated in the Ukrainian Kursk incursion from August 2024. It would later go on to defend Sumy Oblast against the Russian incursion following the Ukrainian withdrawal from Kursk Oblast
In December 2025, the unit was expanded into a brigade, becoming the fifth unit of its type within the formation.
Insignia
The insignia features a shield with a silver border. In the center of the shield is a cross in maroon red, the color of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces. Nestled in the cross is a stylized axe facing left in golden colored streaks, to symbolize strength and lethality.
