Special Purpose Units (also known as Operational Assignment units) of the Ukrainian National Guard are designed to conduct specialized tasks, mainly the protection of the state border, participate in repelling armed aggression against the state, and perform anti-terrorist operations.
Protection and Escort units are specialized units of the Ukrainian National Guard to perform the task of escorting, extraditing and guarding defendants.
Combined units are multipurpose units of the Ukrainian National Guard. They are tasked with maintaining public order, protection of administrative buildings, escorting, extraditing and guarding defendants during court proceedings, and providing assistance to the police.
State Facilities Protection units are specialized units designated to protect particularly important state objects such as nuclear power plants, factories, chemical plants and research centers.
Public Order Protection units are entrusted with a protection of human and citizen rights, preventing destabilization in the rear, and maintaining public order where needed.
The battalion was formed in 2018 as part of the 104th Territorial Defense Brigade. In 2025 the battalion was reformed into the 4th Battalion of the 104th Territorial Defense Brigade and ceased to exist as a separate unit.
