New units of the 17th Army Corps appears

Just yesterday, we reported on the official unveiling of two mechanized brigades and one mountain brigade under the 17th Army Corps (17-й армійський корпус). Today, two more units have been revealed—this time, somewhat unexpectedly, they are both Territorial Defense brigades: the 108th and 241st Territorial Defense Brigades. The information has been published through the official channels of 17th Army Corps.
Both brigades are currently deployed in Zaporizhia Oblast, alongside the previously announced brigades of the 17th Army Corps. It remains unclear whether these units will eventually be transferred to the Ground Forces or if they are temporarily attached until the corps’ structure is fully established.
According to our sources, the 422nd Battalion of Unmanned Systems, known as “Luftwaffe,” has also been assigned to the 17th Army Corps. The unit is currently operating in the same area.

Apparently, it was not the 422nd but the 411th Unmanned Systems Regiment that joined the corps.

No, it’s not a World War II throwback. Just a quirky name, promise!
Well, Luftwaffe is just the german term for Air Force and is used by the modern day german Air Force too. The emblem is the modern day stylised Iron Cross as it is used by the Bundeswehr. So all modern day.

No one will openly admit they chose names to evoke WWII Germany. But calling a drone unit Luftwaffe, an elite force Edelweiss or Nachtigall, and using Iron Cross-inspired insignia is deliberate historical referencing – hidden behind plausible deniability but designed to influence subconsciously.
The unit’s logo and name echo the modern German Air Force. Quote from the unit commander. “The creation of the unit’s name happened at a time when we dreamed of Germany being more actively involved in helping Ukraine. Part of it was trolling, not the russians, but Germany.” P.S. Administration please ban this russian bot.
I’d surmise it’s a historical reference to the early Gothic tribes – the first Ukrainians – who were renowned for painting Schwarzkreuze on their legendary flying ponies
