As part of the reformation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces into the corps-brigade system, many units are being formed or expanded into corps-level support units. In early July 2025, MilitaryLand reported on the strength of the 3rd Army Corps and revealed several units that were known to be forming. This included the 4th Medical Battalion, the 21st Regiment of Unmanned Systems, the 122nd Communications Battalion, a separate Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, a Technical Intelligence Unit, and a Support Battalion – most of which were formed on the basis of existing units within the 3rd Assault Brigade that had been expanded.

The most recent of these developments is the expansion of the 3rd Assault Brigade’s Anti-Tank Battalion, which is subordinated to the Brigade Artillery Group. The unit has been reformed into a separate battalion under the corps level, receiving the designation as the 25th Separate Anti-Tank Battalion as part of the 3rd Army Corps. This information was discovered with a high-profile soldier of the unit, confirming the expansion of the battalion and recruiting for the unit on their Instagram.

A Ukrainian officer, known by the name “Doc”, featured in various films and combat footage by the brigade, is known to be the commander of the unit. He has been serving since at least the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, defending Moschun in Kyiv Oblast, later deployed to Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Oblasts. Between September 2022 and January 2023, he became part of the 1st Mechanized Battalion of the 3rd Assault Brigade and was deployed to Bakhmut, and would later go on to fight around Andriivka, southeast of Bakhmut. Additionally, he also fought during the fall of Avdiivka, helping Ukrainian forces to withdraw from the city.

Additionally, the unit has received a new insignia, which has been redrawn in higher quality for MilitaryLand by Davomme.

The insignia retains the Azov style pointed chevron, driving away from the simplicity of a triangular symbol which was used by the battalion as part of the brigade’s artillery group. At the center of the new insignia is a three-speared pointing towards the top right of the insignia, representing the subordination to the 3rd Army Corps, and poised to strike and crush the enemy – symbolic of the unit striking tanks with long-range anti-tank weapons and drones.

It is currently recruiting, looking for a variety of roles, predominantly associated with drones of several types, anti-tank guided missile operators, drivers, mechanics, and more.
