About Unit

The unit “K-2” was established in 2017 as an reconnaissance group of just 10 members and led by Kyrylo Veres, into 2nd Mechanized Battalion of the 54th Mechanized Brigade. During the ATO/JFO years, K-2 fighters took part in combat operations near Popasna, Avdiivka, Mariinka, and Krasnohorivka.
In 2022, the battalion was designated as K-2, and Veres became its commander.

In late 2024, personnel of the battalion was separated from 54th Mechanized Brigade and formed the core of the newly established 20th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems “K-2”, with Hero of Ukraine Kyrylo Veres always on the lead and ranked as lieutenant colonel.
In September 2025, the regiment was expanded to a brigade and transferred from the Unmanned Systems of the Ground Forces to the Unmanned Systems Forces.
