Marine Infantry Forces
34th Marine Brigade is a unit of the Ukrainian Naval Forces.
It was originally formed in September 2018 as the 124th Territorial Defense Brigade, responsible for the defense and security of Kherson Oblast. At the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion, the brigade mobilized and participated heavily in the defense of the region.
It has also participated in many other battles in Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts.
In the summer of 2024, it was temporarily subordinated to the command of the 30th Marine Corps in order to effectively coordinate the brigade under a command structure in the direction it was operating in.
The brigade was officially integrated into the Marine Corps on February 1, 2025, and was subsequently reformed into the 34th Coastal Defense Brigade, where it would go onto defend static river and coastal installations and conduct drone operations against Russian forces in the Kherson direction.
On March 1, 2026, the brigade was reformed into a Marine Brigade.
Insignia
The insignia depicts a chevron bearing the distinctive colors of the Ukrainian Marines. At its center is a stylized depiction of what appears to be a Lynx’s head, rendered in a grey-silver tone. The animal is portrayed with an aggressive, combat expression, and has sharp fangs with flared fur.
