About Unit

10th Naval Aviation Brigade is an elite formation of the Ukrainian Navy and the service’s only naval aviation unit. Established in 2004 from elements previously stationed in Crimea, the brigade played a key role during the 2014 Russian annexation of the peninsula. Under the command of Colonel Ihor Bedzai and maintaining radio silence, the unit successfully evacuated all operational aircraft and helicopters to mainland Ukraine. It was the only Ukrainian military unit to withdraw its equipment from Crimea. The brigade found its home in Mykolaiv.

In February 2022, the brigade was relocated to reserve airfields in the southern Ukraine to prevent casualties and preserve equipment.
