3rd International Battalion is a linear unit of Azov Brigade.
The battalion was formed on the basis of foreigners serving within the brigade’s 1st Special Purpose Battalion, coupled with the need to bolster the brigade’s manpower. The 3rd Special Purpose Battalion of the brigade became inactive in May 2024, paving the way for the battalion to be reformed and recruit foreigners after it officially accepted them in December 2024.
The unit is composed of many veterans from several conflicts, such as the Global War on Terror, Ukraine, and more. Its members come from many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Germany, Norway, Ukraine, and many more. Since May 2025, the brigade has been performing combat operations alongside in Toretsk.
Insignia
The insignia follows the brigade tradition with a pointed chevron, featuring three swords – one pointing down and two crossed. Surrounding the swords are olive branches, with the top of the insignia bearing the brigade’s name.

Captain
He joined the military in 2016, beginning his service in the 503rd Marine Battalion, which was garrisoned in the city of Mariupol. Until 2019, he served, taking part in combat operations in the Mariupol direction. In 2020, he joined the Azov Regiment of the Ukrainian National Guard. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, on February 25, 2022, he returned from training to the city to defend against the advancing enemy.
