Teror Battalion is a unit of the Belarusian Volunteer Corps.
The unit was formed by Belarusian volunteers, around the size of a company, willing to take up arms to defend Ukraine. It was named after Belarusian volunteer Zmitser Apanasovich, going by the call sign “Teror”, who had been killed during the defense of Irpin in Kyiv Oblast on March 24, 2022.
It became publicly known in July 2022, according to Polskiego Radia, that the unit was in the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment, and was one of two of the line battalions alongside Volat in the unit.
In August 2022, the commander of the unit, going by the call sign “Varah”, was dismissed for disciplinary violations, and the unit was separated from the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment, retaining its name and becoming a separate formation. In December 2022, the battalion announced that it had joined the newly created Belarusian Volunteer Corps, which was formed on the same day.
It has participated in several high-profile operations, including the Belgorod incursion in 2023, alongside the Russian Volunteer Corps, and also the liberation of the Vovchansk aggregate plant in northern Kharkiv in 2024.
On November 12, 2024, the battalion publicly announced on Telegram that they had ceased to exist and some members had transferred elsewhere in the Main Directorate of Intelligence. Later, on November 14, 2024, it was discovered that the unit continued to exist but on a smaller scale and was reformed into a reconnaissance group.
Insignia
The insignia features a shield bearing the colors of free Belarus, symbolizing opposition to the current regime. At its center is the Tiwaz rune, an upward-pointing arrow, representing strength and resistance. Above the shield is the unit’s name, referencing the callsign of Zmitser Apanasovich.
