24th Assault Battalion Aidar is a unit of Ukrainian Ground Forces, formed in May 2014 as 24th Territorial Defense Battalion. The unit was formed on the basis of Euromaidan self-defense volunteers.
In September 2014, the territorial defense battalion was reformed into an assault battalion. On November 3, 2015, it was announced the unit would be transferred under the command of 10th Mountain Brigade, and in 2016 the battalion became part of 53rd Mechanized Brigade.
At the end of 2022, Aidar was transferred under the command of the newly formed 5th Assault Brigade.
