21st Rifle Battalion is a separate unit of Ukrainian Ground Forces, and assigned under the command of 44th Mechanized Brigade.
At the end of 2024, the battalion was split in half, part was reformed into a linear rifle battalion of 44th Mechanized Brigade, and the other formed the basis of 158th Mechanized Brigade.
