About Unit

1st Motorized Battalion was a unit of the Ground Forces of Ukraine. The battalion was formed in June 2014 as 1st Battalion of Territorial Defense from the residents of Volyn Oblast. It was one of very few battalions of Territorial Defense which received enough time for its training, because the battalion commander refused to sign the act of readiness. In October 2014, it was proposed to create the 99th Motorized Battalion on its basis, but the plan was never completed. The unit was eventually reformed into a motorized battalion and assigned to 14th Motorized Brigade.

The unit was subsequently demobilized and remained only on paper by 2022.
