Ukrainian Legion in Poland slowly grows

More than a thousand people have applied for the Ukrainian Legion in Poland, but the number is lower than anticipated.

In an interview with Suspilno, Vasyl Bodnar, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland, revealed that over a thousand applications have been submitted for the Ukrainian Legion, currently being established in Poland.

The applications are still awaiting processing and verification, but the number submitted is lower than expected. Announced in July 2024, the initiative aimed to create a full-fledged brigade. However, the current number of applicants falls short of what is needed to form such a unit. The ambassador has also suggested that volunteers joining the Legion and signing contracts with the Armed Forces might serve in various units instead of a single, unified brigade as originally planned.

According to the ambassador, the initial contracts were signed, and the first Ukrainian unit was established in November 2024. Based on the number of volunteers, it is likely a company- or battalion-sized formation. The creation of the next unit is scheduled for January 2025.

What a choice… To not flee cowardly and risk death or worse in combat or to live the rest of your life knowing you did nothing as everyone else did…

Think the tactics being used by Ukraine are not well considered or planned.
Options they should take they are failing to optimize.
