New mechanized brigades begin the process of formation

The 160ish series of mechanized brigades will be formed abroad.

The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has begun forming new mechanized brigades within the Ground Forces. These brigades are being built around experienced units in Ukraine and will later be sent abroad for training at Western military facilities. The personnel for these brigades are expected to be recruited from Ukrainians living abroad. As we reported on July 9, 2024, a Ukrainian Legion was formed in Poland, with its soldiers set to join the newly established brigades after completing their training.

The new mechanized brigades have been assigned numbers in the 160-series. The first known unit is the 160th Mechanized Brigade, which is already actively forming. Photos shared by the unit’s representatives, shown below, provide a glimpse into this ongoing process.

The 160-series brigades are expected to be equipped with gear provided by Western partners, depending on their training locations. If everything proceeds as planned, these brigades are intended to participate in Ukraine’s 2025 offensive, while the 150-series brigades will be tasked with relieving exhausted units currently deployed at the front.

Not true. Ukraine this year has trained 14 new brigades, 4 of them already deployed.
Now around 40 brigades are in the early training stages, mostly formed by young Ukrainians (25-27 years old) and one third are volunteers (before they couldn’t fight since too young).

If this is true, then has the right to nuke back..is this what you really want

Patrick

I don’t think any sizeable number of Ukrainian men living abroad will join any brigade of their own free will. Most of them fled Ukraine precisely in order not to be conscripted.

Securion

The current brigades are being filled with volunteers abroad, so obviously you are wrong.

Patrick

How come they have volunteered abroad instead of returning home to enroll? I am sure some have done so when the war broke out – But now after 30 months of fighting?

There’s been a very well thought out set of policies put in place. First, it was made clear that these units were going to be trained and equipped abroad, so the fear of being improperly trained/equipped went away. Also, it was made so that after serving in the military, people could return to the country they were currently in, they wouldn’t be forced to return to Ukraine. These worked.

Leave Ukraine illegaly, join the 160 brigade, serve in the army, get injured and then – you don’t have to stay, you can go back! Yeah, a real game changer

Paraus

Over a hundred thousand men returned to fight at the outset and tens of thousands more who willingly left comfortable lives in Europe in 2022, 2023 to volunteer to serve. Now its the slackers turn. The foreign Ukrainian legions make any excuse about fear of ‘poor training, equipment, etc” moot; Either they serve or they might as well admit they’re unpatriotic cowards

Kay

Foreign citizens of Ukrainian descent are being drafted who can only now be recruited in their current homeland due to obligations (family, children, job). This means they have had time to organize all their personal matters…

please let there be no old soviet officers

Harry

It don’t matter there being trained abroad which means there not being taught as Russian officers, the nato officers

Joey Jones

Once you take out an nco or officer the Russian unit collapses on its self. Solders don’t take initiative and go fight or flight mode. Attack stalls they get overwhelmed and flee. Give me a mech brigade separate and 1 tank company we’ll call it a calvary squadron and end run 100 clicks the 1st day.

If the current loyalty is to Ukraine why not

Neko

Will the 47th finally get some rest

Tiss

Judging by the situation in and around Pokrovsk, probably not

Forsayte

hard workers from the 47th fight without a break for six months. They must rest, otherwise Kyiv risks completely depleting the American heavy vehicles

Forsayte

or the Republicans may again put pressure and block American military aid т_т

Tristan

You mean the trumpist traitors. Loyal Republicans, those who support Ukraine, vote for Harris anyway.

Kent

I support Ukraine, but not Harris or any democrat

Tristan

If you support Ukraine, vote for Harris. Trump and Vance would just give Putin everything he wants.
As Geoff Duncan (a Republican) said: “If you vote for Harris in 2024, you’re not a democrate, you are a patriot”.

Tlr

Our country first. I support ukraine but , but not vote for Harris. High prices will get worse, inflation, crime, and let’s see ok yeah let’s let another 10 million illegals in so we can pay their way while they rape, murder Americans. No way I want another 4 years like last 4. Go ahead and waste your vote.

Tristan

The thing is, when “country first” is a made-up term to abandon your allies, you make your country weaker. USA has nothing to gain, and everything to lose, if Trump is elected and abandon Ukraine.
And, here are a few facts for you: inflation and crime are down under Biden, and satistics show that rapists and murderers are more often people familiar with the victim than strangers.

Andrew

This approach doesn’t work with anti-Trump conservatives, for the record. You’re just going to make them hold their nose and vote Trump or stay home.
American politics is its own special cesspool. Don’t drag Ukraine in. It’s probably chaos and dysfunction going forward anyway – USA isn’t a real country, unlike Ukraine.

Tristan

I was replying to trumpists who said they were supporting Ukraine, not anti-Trump conservatives. And if you support Ukraine, don’t vote for Trump, it’s the same as a vote for Putin.
But I don’t understand why, for an anti-Trump conservative, the subject of Ukraine would be divisive. Please explain.

Kay

At the beginning of the war, Trump said that if he were president, he would have dropped a nuclear bomb on the Kremlin long ago. Trump’s fantasies of omnipotence only work in a peaceful world without wars. Putin is exactly the opposite of that… Trump never said he likes Putin.
