Col. Serhii Mazorchuk has taken command of the 24th Mechanized Brigade, replacing Col. Ivan Holishevskyi. This was announced by the official social channels of the brigade.

Rumors of Holishevskyi’s removal began circulating in July 2024. Several brigade members, including the RAROG team, opposed his dismissal and appealed to the President of Ukraine, urging him to keep Holishevskyi in his post. They claimed that senior military leadership sought his removal due to his refusal to carry out senseless assaults with understaffed units.

Mazorchuk joined the 24th Mechanized Brigade in 2015, shortly after graduating from the National Academy of Hetman Petro Sahaidachny. He served in various roles within the brigade, eventually rising to the position of battalion commander. He and his unit were deployed to Zolote in Luhansk Oblast on the eve of the Russian full-scale invasion.
