Legendary 93rd Brigade joins an army corps

The 93rd Mechanized Brigade—widely regarded as one of the top combat units within Ukraine’s Ground Forces—has officially joined the newly established 21st Army Corps, according to announcements from Operational Command North’s official social media channels. According to MilitaryLand sources, the 159th Mechanized Brigade, one of the newly formed mechanized units, has also been integrated into this corps.
The 21st Army Corps is led by Colonel Valeriy Kurach, who previously commanded Tactical Group Vuhledar in 2024. His leadership during that period drew criticism for failing to order a timely withdrawal after the collapse of the flanks, which led to the encirclement at Uspenivka near Kurakhove and heavy infantry losses. MilitaryLand reported on his appointment on July 6, citing exclusive access to a gift certificate issued by the unit confirming his new role.
