Kholodnyi Yar Brigade appoints new commander

93rd Mechanized Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar,” celebrated for its significant role in the battles of Bakhmut and recognized as one of the elite units of Ukraine’s Ground Forces, has announced a change in leadership. Colonel Pavlo Palisa, who had led the brigade since 2023, was recently appointed as deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, as reported earlier.

Leadership of the brigade has now passed to Lieutenant Colonel Shamil Krutkov, who previously served as the brigade’s deputy commander under Palisa. The transition was announced through the brigade’s official social media channels. A video accompanying the announcement captured the symbolic handover of the unit’s flag from the outgoing commander to his successor, marking the change in command.

Has there been an explanation for why Colonel Pavlo Palisa would be transferred from leading a brigade to a political office? Will he deal mainly with military matters?

Thanks for the reply. From what i found, Zelensky said, quote: “He understands well what is happening in the brigades, at the front. And I need just such a person to accurately know information directly from the front on a daily basis.” How Palisa is supposed to know whats happening on the frontline once he is off the frontline is beyond me however. Hopefully he has good ties to other commanders.
