Several sources report that Ukraine managed to establish a bridgehead of the left bank of the Dnipro river.

dolgan

not really on the left bank. they just send troops on the big island south of kherson.

On the video, its only a small infantery group.

Info: ukrainian use intact civil ponton . Its proof of russian total disorganisation. destroy all this ponton should have be the first step of a defense lign. they had months to do this . Great lack of competent officer.

Patrick

There is information – needing actual confirmation – that road 0506 has been taken.

Patrick

Physically cut, I meant, meaning Khromove can no longer be supplied.

dolgan

reporting for ukrain say that russia capture a trench very close to the road. The road is cut.

But its not a good position for russian, thet are surrounded. wait and see, if they are able to capture the other parts of trench system north of the road.

German Defense Minister Pistorius believes limited attacks by Ukraine on Russian territory are an acceptable tactic in repelling Russia’s invasion. In such a war, it is “completely normal for the attacked party to advance into enemy territory, for example to cut off supply routes,” he said in German TV. As long as no cities, civilians or civilian areas are

Kay

… attacked, one will necessarily have to accept that.”

Finally, a Western politician who addresses it openly. And that too from a German….

dolgan

What?

MeNeutral

Yes… let’s attack Russias territory… good idea.
let’s see how that would turn out… oh do you like mushrooms by any chance?

Attacking Russian territory to physically cut supplies will not work by the way, since they are far behind the frontline and with Ukraines current military capabilities it might be impossible.
Also the US doesn’t want that so it won’t ever happen.

Tristan

1) Ukraine has already attacked Russia’s territory. Many times. So we saw how it turns out: Russians just whine and murder more civilians
2) There are many targets (bridge, tunnels) that can dammage/destroy Russian railway system, which is the core of Russian logistics
3) Americans only oppose to attack Russian territory with american-made weapons. Everything else is fair game.

MeNeutral

1.They attacked in very small numbers, without any significant damage done to the civilian population, what is suggested is a full on offensive into russia tho.
2.Railways are easily rebuild in less than a day, so it’s not worth to attack them at all. There is no weapon Ukraine could use to significantly weaken Russian logistics.
3.There is nothing else that could be a threat to Russia.

danis

I dont think thats a great idea. Most russians dont really have a reason to fight in this war. Unless you count looting and raping as a reason to some.
Attacking their territory would motivate them to join the army to “protect motherland” and would also help out in Russian propaganda. It might also be used as a reason to call full mobilization.

danis

I ment conquering their territory

Kay

The quote has been taken out of context. Pistorius is not talking about areas in Russia or targeted attacks on infrastructure and civilian objects behind the border. It’s about Russian territory, which has been occupied and claimed by them…

Noelle

there is no point of ‘reasoning’, and there is no need for one. As long a there is the slightest ‘not me (this time)’ rationalisation, Putin may take as many of them as he wish as long as it is done quietly (‘internet summons’, exactly). This is how depolitisation works. RF has no citizens, just population (at best) and biomass (at worst).

Kay

Kerch Bridge was such an attack… Or destruction of military facilities in Crimea. Or the rear areas in the Donbass. What he’s saying is that recapturing the Ukrainian territories now occupied by the Russians is perfectly legitimate.

Volga Bulgaria

I think Ukraine should negotiate peace. There is no force on the planet that will give Ukraine its territories back. It’s pointless for people to die when for something that can’t be achieved. And frankly I think make peace or Ukraine will lose more territories. The Polish are rubbing hands and drooling for Ukranian land also.

F. Hakstege

Sure, and that is why Poland is giving away its tanks so they (Poland) can attack them more easily. And it is ofcourse a very cunning move to reinforce Ukrain’s airforce with Polish aircraft.

dolgan

I think Russia should negociated peace. They have not the force to keep stolen territories.

Its pointless for young russian to die for something that can t be achieved.

Making peace is the only positiv issue for russia, maybe they can keep a few territories and clam great victory in propaganda. the other option is loosing everything .

The bieloruss are rubbing hands .

Volga Bulgaria

I think you should sober up. Ukraine is on life support from NATO. When this life support stops and eventually it will stop there will be no pulse.

And no, Poland won’t fight to take Ukranian territories. Ukraine will pay in land, because that is the only thing that Ukraine has. The economy is shattered. Russia took control of the area responsible for 90% of the GDP. Must make peace to survive

Noelle

Maybe stop repeating RU propaganda. PL won’t take in any way any piece of UKR territory, neither in ‘conquest’ – you’re clearly mistake actors there, nor in ‘payment’. These are RU/BR fantasies. Though, regardless of in how much in fact PL govt is putinist (and it is, indeed like HUN, just incompetent) existence of sovereign UKR is a vital survival stance for each of the CEE country. Obviously.

Hi Jerome, I noticed a small error here :

“Artillery of Ukrainian 54th Mechanized Brigade shelled Russian positions east of Zolotarivka. (source)”

This geolocalized footage is west of Zolotarivka, not east.

Alfred

I see this confusion of “east” and “west” quite often, I wonder if there is not a special reason for it.
