The Wagner story is about to end in the coming weeks, just like the Kadyrovites lost their significance last year. The Russian MoD is now recruiting prisoners itself and will likely employ similar tactics as the Wagner Group. It’s a really dirty trick

Dwarf Mines

I don’t think the Russian military will be able to replicate the Wagner model.

While the military will certainly utilize the cannon fodder method, part of Wagner’s success is that they allow operational and tactical initiative to front line commanders.

I don’t think the Russian military will allow this level of autonomy and thus won’t be able to replicate Wagner’s successes.

Dwarf Mines

In a way, the alleged sidelining of Wagner (which I think it is being a bit oversold in Western media) is a great thing for the Ukrainian defenders because the Russian military itself is not that capable.

You don’t have to look any further than Vuhledar for evidence of that.

Triglav

Vuhledar is an exception in my opinion, just look at how Russia captured Krasna Hora, Soledar and Opytne. Underestimating the Russian military is counterproductive and a cheap excuse not to send more weapons to Ukraine

Dwarf Mines

Those places were all captured largely by Wagner efforts. Soledar in particular is an example of the tactical initiative that Wagner allows its commanders paying big benefits for the Russian side.

The Russian military proper had little to do with it.

Part of the reason why Wagner is getting de-emphasized to a degree is they are making the Russian military look bad and they are jealous.

INEXORABLE

These insignificant places are no values strategically nor logistically, so abandonning them is the best choice for UKR army…. instead of losing uselessly manpower and material like Wagner or other russians troops which are slowly disintegrated…. Retreat against non sense losses the choice is easy to make

dolgan

You forget large part of russian offensive.

Avdivka, marinka, bilohorvkika, etc

Bakmut area is an exception .

INEXORABLE

??? They are still struggling to take the villages you mentioned….
Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Kharkiv are still standing,…. The fight for useless fields and small cities does not worth it

WaterlooBridge

The western arms industry is slowly but surely expanding its operations. What chance do Russia have, faced with the combined industrial strength of 80% of the world’s economy? Even with China and Iran, they cannot help Russia outproduce NATO and allies. Their blitzkrieg failed, their strategy of attrition will fail also.

WaterlooBridge

It is good that the USA is the world hegemon, to prevent warmongers like Russia to redraw the borders of the world with force. Very soon Putin and his ilk will learn not to mess with the USA, as millions of terrorists have learned in the past 80 years.

WaterlooBridge

Russia will be destroyed, and China, with its economy entirely reliant on Western investments, will learn that their place in the world is only merely a factory and will be forced to recognize the independence of Taiwan. Iran, with internal revolutions brewing, will undergo a regime change similar to the Revolution of DIgnity. After that, the USA will be ascendant as we move to the stars.

WaterlooBridge

It is only a matter of time. Rome took 2000 years to fall, the USA is only 200 years old. We have enough time to ensure Pax Americana, forevermore.

RED.Misfit

Why do you reply to your own message, can’t you just write a single one instead ?

WaterlooBridge

Word limits 🙂

Matteo

Rome controlled the known world and had no enemy able to even be a hinderance to them, you cant compare the USA to it, that’s delusional.
You can and have to compare the USA to the British Empire if you want to do historical comparisons.

WaterlooBridge

Are you saying that the pathetic orcish barbarian state known as RuSSia, the world toy factory China and the headchoppers in Iran can in anyway pose a threat to the US? We can wipe the floor with anyone that provokes us hard enough, just ask the Iraqis! Latin America is our playground, Africa is where our corporations get rare minerals dirt cheap, the Asia-Pacific all welcome our troops.

COLIN

Stop bumming up a the USA. Plenty of things wrong in the USA.

WaterlooBridge

No sense hiding it, the USA is the world hegemon, like Rome was. We haven’t even entered our imperial era even 😉

WaterlooBridge

Did you know? With only 1% of our annual defense budget, we were able to destroy 50% of the Ruzzian military capability in less than a year, without a single NATO casualty. Imagine when we actually intervene, I almost feel sorry for the orcs.

kajmik01

I don’t see an ideal situation on either side. Russia is returning to imperial militarism and wants to conquer neighboring countries by force. The West is destroying itself with insane environmental limits that harm production and welfare and solve the 42 gender problem and such nonsense.

China is today, thanks to the fact that it produced basically anything for the West, very capable industrially and financially, and it is trying to take over the role of world number one. But it is also a very totalitarian society despite its economic successes.
From the point of view of a Central European who has lived through totalitarianism, I see flaws and problems in all today’s systems.

If the West is to become stronger, it needs to stop philosophizing, solving meaningless questions and start acting.
Ukraine deserves our help, as does anyone fighting against injustice.

Noelle

poor thing – some gender-monster bite your arse lately?
I’d dare to underestimate Russian or Chineese potential of making a mayhem and destruction. That is one part. The 2nd – the Western effective power is directly connected with constant ability to question and test itself – the moment when the West stops ‘philosophizing’ and becomes antiintellectual marks its decline which we observe now.

Noelle

*should be ‘I wouldn’t dare’.

dolgan

What is known World ?

Maybe you call unknown World, territory not under roman domination ?

mustang

Do you have driver license already? You sound like 5 y.o. kids who belives in dragons. You really quick forgot about Wietnam or Afghanistan where some poor villagers kicked you asses :). Pathetic loosers.

Max Beckhaus

80% of world economy? Hä? Roman empire 2000 years? What? Oh well, must be irony, i guess.

COLIN

The USA is not innocent.

INEXORABLE

ahaha you said the same thing last year, but it was you RuSSians who were destroyed 🙂

The U.S. has restarted two idled artillery ammunition factories.

Rheinmetall is building new factories for explosives and grenades in Germany and Ukraine. In addition, Gepard ammunition is now being produced again in Germany after Switzerland refused to supply it to Ukraine (it is produced in Switzerland).

Other European countries will also ramp up and expand ammunition production…

Kay

This is the latest news from Germany’s media

Triglav

What bothers me is how late the NATO alliance has started to expand its military production. Even if we win in Ukraine against Russia, will we have enough supplies left for Taiwan when China invades? The west needs to drop it’s soft pacifistic paradigms and realise that the authoritarian axis in Asia (Russia-Iran-China) is a fundamental threat to freedom and democracy everywhere

JJ Gonzo

Better so late than never. Rashists provoced for more than 3 years and West was sleeping and deliberating about number of genders 🤯

perry moore

fantastic maps with unit designations!
