Command change in 72nd Mechanized Brigade

The reformation of the Ukrainian Army into corps formations is in full swing. With the creation of new command structures and units, experienced commanders are being called up from brigades to corps headquarters. Recently, MilitaryLand reported on command changes in the 152nd Jaeger Brigade and the 65th Mechanized Brigade.

Today, a command change has been reported in the veteran and battle-hardened 72nd Mechanized Brigade. Colonel Oleksandr Okhrimenko, who had led the brigade since September 2024 – just days before the fall of Vuhledar, which the 72nd Brigade had held since 2022 – was replaced.

Lieutenant Colonel Roman Reytor has been appointed as the new commander of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade. He previously served as the chief of staff of the 59th Assault Brigade.
