63rd Mechanized Brigade Undergoes Reorganization

As part of the ongoing military-wide reform within the Ukrainian Defense Forces, many units are undergoing significant restructuring — including expansions, downgrades, or complete reorganization.
On August 2, 2025, the 63rd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces officially announced a major transformation of its organizational structure and battalion numbering system. Previously, the brigade operated with a mix of separate mechanized and rifle battalions that were not organized linearly. This atypical structure was characteristic of the 60th, 61st, 62nd, and 63rd Mechanized Brigades.
The current restructuring changes within the brigade are as follows:
- 105th Mechanized Battalion → 1st Mechanized Battalion
- 106th Mechanized Battalion → 2nd Mechanized Battalion
- 107th Mechanized Battalion → 3rd Mechanized Battalion
- 51st Rifle Battalion → Motorized Battalion
- 55th Rifle Battalion → Rifle Battalion
- 38th and 41st Artillery Divisions → Artillery Group
All of the above-mentioned units have ceased to exist as separate entities and have been integrated as linear components of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade. These changes were long overdue and are expected to help streamline the brigade’s command hierarchy. We have contacted the 63rd Mechanized Brigade regarding the 52nd Rifle Battalion, which is currently missing from the list, and will update the article once we receive a response.
About separate units under the brigade
In connection with the ongoing reform of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade, MilitaryLand has obtained the military unit numbers of the now-disbanded battalions. Having confirmed that these were indeed separate entities, we have created dedicated unit pages to preserve their history. Honor to all who died during the defense of Blahodatne!
