117th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces has become the second unit to be restructured as a heavy mechanized brigade. The transformation was announced on the brigade’s official Facebook page, where photos shared on November 3, 2024, feature a watermark indicating the new heavy mechanized status.

On November 1, 2024, our site reported the transformation of the 17th Tank Brigade into the 17th Heavy Mechanized Brigade. This change addressed logistical needs, as Ukrainian tank brigades no longer operate as unified forces, prompting a strategic shift. However, the reformation of the 117th Brigade remains somewhat of a mystery.

The chaos in the ZSU continues… Instead of constantly founding new units or reforming heavily decimated ones, it would be better to fill up and strengthen existing units…

Here is a good article about it:

So, the 17th tank brigade are now a heavy brigade as well as the 117th mechanized brigade are now a heavy mechanized brigade.
Are the 47th considered a heavy mechanized brigade?
So, ~60 M1A1s/~300 M2s/400 minus 190=210 new Strykers/~56 RCH155s(soon supposedly) seems like “Heavy Mechanized” Brigades to me..!

47th currently has at most around 20 M1A1s and 90 Bradley’s as well as some M109s
