Shakhtarsk Battalion

Shakhtarsk was a volunteer battalion of the special police patrol service as part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, created in the Dnipropetrovsk region on June 16, 2014, on the basis of Battalion Ukraine. The battalion consisted mainly of people from Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The unit fought near Ilovaisk and participated in the liberation of Marinka.

On October 17, 2014, the battalion was disbanded, and about 50 members of total 700 accused of looting. Fighters of Brotherhood organization, which were part of the unit, formed its own St. Mary company within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, while the rest joined other volunteer police units. Later, Tornado company was formed on its basis and is considered as the successor.
