Company Kherson is a unit of Special Purpose Patrol Police, created in April 2014 as Kherson Battalion in Kherson Oblast. The unit was formed by Maidan self-defense forces in Kherson and other volunteers from the Kherson Oblast. During the battle of Illovaysk, the commander of the battalion was killed, and the unit was briefly under the command of Donbas Battalion.
In 2015/2016, the unit actively participated against the participants of Crimean blockade initiative.
In 2020, the unit was reformed and is known as Company of the Special Purpose Patrol Police Kherson HUNP.
When the Russian army invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the unit didn’t receive an order to help the Ukrainian Army to defend the city. According to multiple witnesses, the command of Kherson Police fled, leaving the special units and regular police on their own.
In 2022 with the occupation of Kherson the battalion merged with the Mykolaiv Battalion and was reorganized into the Tavr police battalion.
