“SANTA” originated in the time when Dmytro Yarosh left the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps and founded his Volunteer Army. At this time some soldiers of the Volunteer Corps asked their brother-in-arms Volodymyr Rehesha (callsign “Santa”) to be their commander for a new separate unit. He agreed and although the unit is not part of the Right Sector it still carries its name, because it wasn’t forbidden to do so. Most of the soldiers of the unit are former Right Sector fighters. The unit fought in Avdiivka and Pisky.
