162nd Mechanized Brigade is a unit of the Ukrainian Сухопутні війська, established during the planning of the 160-series of brigades initiated in June 2024. These units were expected to be fully operational by the first half of 2025, but currently, almost two years onwards from its original creation date, the brigade is still in the process of formation.
The brigade was set to expand the reserve of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, possibly as part of the Ukrainian Legion initiative, like its sister unit, the 160-та механізована бригада.
In May 2025, the brigade received its first insignia, which was rejected, and later received a new insignia that month.
Colonel Serhiy Ivanovych Kostiuk led the brigade in 2025, until he was appointed new commander of 115th Territorial Defence Brigade by November.
In April 2026, the 162nd Mechanized Brigade had finally it baptism of fire, with some drone pilots of the unmanned system battalion who started operating on the front line.

The insignia displays a traditional chevron divided vertically into two, olive green on the left and blue on the right, with a yellow border. At its center stands a yellow sword facing the bottom of the chevron. Behind the swords are two crossed silver clamps, being a homage to the Polish Klamry Coats of Arms.
