Zelenskyy Announces Detention of 155th Mechanized Brigade Commander

The commander of Ukraine’s 155th Mechanized Brigade, Stanislav Luchanov, has been detained on suspicion of involvement in the abduction and murder of two civilians in Kyiv Oblast, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced.
Luchanov became the tenth suspect in the investigation into the abduction and killing of the Moseychuk brothers. According to Ukrainian media reports, he was detained in Kyiv.
“Everything they did will be thoroughly investigated. This concerns more than one community and not only Kyiv Oblast. Establishing the full truth and bringing everyone responsible to justice is a necessity for the entire country. And that is what will happen,” Zelenskyy said.
According to investigators, the incident stemmed from a verbal altercation between one of the Moseychuk brothers and a local resident. The dispute reportedly began after the brothers were listening to loud music and riding motorcycles through the village. Following complaints from residents, the brothers allegedly responded with obscene language.
Investigators say the woman’s husband, identified as Luchanov, demanded an apology, but the brothers refused. Prosecutors allege that he subsequently recruited several servicemen to carry out a retaliatory attack.
According to the investigation, the suspects entered the victims’ property while armed, forcibly abducted the two men, transported them to another region, unlawfully detained them for an extended period, and later killed them.
Background
During the night of June 27–28, seven men reportedly entered the brothers’ property in Kyiv Oblast and forcibly took them away. Their bodies were later discovered following an investigation.
Among those previously detained is Oleksiy Dolholenko, a battalion commander in the 155th Mechanized Brigade. According to sources cited by Hromadske, Luchanov disappeared shortly after several of his subordinates were arrested before later being detained by law enforcement.
