Two commanders received a general rank

Ukrainian President Zelensky has awarded two commanders, currently leading Tactical Groups, with the rank of general.

Brig. Gen. Mykhailo Drapatyi, commander of the Operational Tactical Group Kharkiv, has been promoted to the rank of Major General.

Col. Oleksandr Lutsenko, commander of the 9th Army Corps and Operational Tactical Group Donetsk, has been promoted to Brigadier General—a decision that has raised concerns. Lutsenko has been criticized for several strategic failures, including the fall of Avdiivka, mishandling troop rotations at Ocheretyne, and making further mistakes that allowed Russian forces to advance toward Pokrovsk. According to Yurii Butusov, a reporter for Ukrainian outlet censor.net, Lutsenko also insisted on holding Vuhledar despite deteriorating flanks, missing the opportunity for an organized withdrawal, which proved costly for the 72nd Mechanized Brigade.
