The Defense Forces are creating a new artillery brigade (Updated)

The brigade’s official Facebook page has released its insignia to the public, which also reveals that the 60th Artillery Brigade is part of the 20th Army Corps.

The Defense Forces are establishing a new unit within the Ground Forces — the 60th Artillery Brigade. Its formation was revealed through a newly created Facebook page and multiple posts by volunteers affiliated with the brigade. The creation of this artillery brigade is part of the ongoing transformation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces into a corps–brigade structure.

The 60th Artillery Brigade is being formed in Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv Oblast. The city is already home to the 40th Artillery Brigade, and the new unit is likely being created on the basis of one of its artillery battalions. Based on its location, the 60th Artillery Brigade is part of Operational Command South. According to a social media post by a volunteer affiliated with the brigade, at least part of the unit has already been deployed to Dnipro Oblast.

On August 12, 2025, MilitaryLand was the first to report the formation of the 68th Artillery Brigade, another new artillery unit within the Ground Forces.
