The Army switches to a new camouflage pattern (Updated)

Update (4.8.2025 – 18:45):

The head of the Public Anti-Corruption Council has shared additional details about the new MM-25 camouflage pattern. According to him, the initiative originated with the General Staff. Behind the scenes, there had been ongoing pressure from special forces to officially adopt multicam, as they view it as an element of their identity—highlighting their uniqueness and elite status.

At the request of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Central Directorate for Material Development created a new camouflage pattern. The first production order includes 20,000 items, which will be distributed to special forces units. Currently, there are no plans to introduce the pattern across the entire army; it is intended exclusively for special forces at this stage.

Original article:

The Central Directorate for Material Development has approved a new camouflage pattern, MM-25, for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is set to gradually replace the current MM-14 digital camouflage. While MM-14 was widely adopted across most units, some formations—such as the Special Operations Forces and the 3rd Assault Brigade—opted instead for Multicam. The introductory photo is for illustrative purposes only.

The new MM-25 is a multi-environment camouflage pattern, reportedly based on the U.S.-made Multicam, according to the FirstDivision channel. Initial samples are expected to be issued to units later this year. Given the current size of the Armed Forces, a full transition to the new uniform is expected to take at least a year.

MM-14 is a five-color digital pixel camouflage adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2014, replacing the Soviet-era Dubok pattern, also known as TTsKO. Since 2017, the Ukrainian Navy has used a naval variant known as MM-16F. It is highly likely that this variant will also be phased out in the near future.

A shame, MM-14 was a handsome camo.

Scott Wilmore

FFL Lizard camouflage is okay.

Edgar Lozano

So I’m guessing special forces didnt feel special enough? This is the result of the film making industry always over glorifying special forces units around the world. Yeah we get it, y’all have the high speed gear, the special skills, the special missions, the special beards, and the special treatment. Any more special y’all will be riding the short special school bus to work.

Wayne Cummings

It’s the people who sat on their ass for 20 years and did nothing to improve themselves, military-wise, i.e., go to sniper school, jumpmaster school, Ranger school, but always have something to say about it, just your style, just saying you don’t do shit, so why get any special privileges????

Oh man, this article is about a new ukrainian camouflage. This entire website is in fact dedicated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, only. The ukrainians are defending thier home in the biggest war in europe since WW2, they do much much more then just sit on thier ass.

Eric gofor

No no no all the schools u are talking about are “read this loud and clear ” every soldier had to. COMPETE against his fellow soldier that in return they both are supposed to die for each other taught in basic training it’s not all about the patches.that material to make them patches does not stop bulkets.along with the fancy headgear ,that doesn’t provide x-ray vision.all I’m simply saying is

Eric gofor

Also mr.tom hanks is and never was or should be allowed to have his name on the ranger hall of fame. That says enough I think

James graymount

Sounds like jealousy coming from someone that couldn’t hack it as a 1%er!!!

Eric gofor

Why don’t u talk like that to audie Murphy, Charles Bronson,or better yet sheriff Matt Dillon oh yeah that’s right u forgot about the silent ones yes.the what u call 1%ers go pound sand.

Chris

I wonder where the Ukrainian army got the money to r&d new camo and implement new uniforms and gear?

Miles_Ignigena

Ukrainian tax payers, plus loans and aid. No need to wonder, it’s all open-source.

Django

Then dont say “The army” its the Ukrainian army

Miles_Ignigena

Again, this entire website is dedicated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine… It should be crystal clear which army is meant.

Jared

Do you think Ukraine call it the Ukrainian army. No dipshit. It’s just their Army. Just like when someone asks me I say I served in the Army. Not United States Army. I’m American what other army would it be. So. Shut the hell up retard.

Tommie Smith

Why does the army keep changing their uniforms I miss the odd bdu

Miles_Ignigena

BDU is american. This entire website is dedicated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Jonathan

Well,no not BDU for the Army, those were replaced around 2005 with the digital pattern and those were being phased out around 2010. I can promise you that the US Army is indeed wearing mulitcams.

Miles_Ignigena

Tommie here is missing the BDU and wonders why “the” Army keep changing their uniforms, under an article on the new ukrainian camo. I said, that BDU is of american origin, not the US Army is using it currently, and that this entire website is dedicated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

I like this change, I was spotted deer in the forest and it disappeared so quickly because of the light brown color… should more brown spots on uniform camouflage…

Richa21

What’s with the ak’s is this Americans or Ukraine, or Russians.?

Jeffrey

Didn’t you read it? It said the armed forces of Ukraine

MSG M

So, who is on first again? 🙄🤣

Delvin jones

So the variant of MM14 looks like the Russian uniform but digital and we are basically taking the variant of Ukraine and digitizing it sooo now we’ll look like Russians??!!?! Seriously…. Can’t we just stick with one uniform for more than a week before changing it up again??

Miles_Ignigena

1. the Russian uniform is digital too (EMR camouflage)
2. the Ukranian MM14 is distinct from EMR (EMR is darker and the Ukranian took more inspiration from the USAs UCP camouflage), but if you take a look at digital-pixellated camouflages, they kind of all look similar, in a way.

Miles_Ignigena

3. we are taking about the Ukranian army here, none other. The MM25 is similar to Multicam, because Multicam, or copies of it, are used in Ukraine by Ukranians. Because it is widely available in military stores.
4. some Russians have started to use Multicam copies too, so its the russians that try to look like Ukranians/Americans, not the other way around.

It’s been 10 years since the last change just like always.

Dan Marchetto

So the Russians can imitate and use our own troops
Just like Trump and Putin want🤔
Brainwashed America and it’s constitutional loving troops.

ApolloTrueblood

The brainwashed Americans are no longer in power since Jan 20th

Jeffrey

Ditto for you

Wayne Cummings

You’re right the brain washed are out and the cocksuckers are in!!! And I guess you thought you were veteran There was no expiration date on defending the constitution, but I guess we’re asleep when it came to that part!!!

Jeffrey

Uneducated, it’s the only word for you

Yahoo

The Army. What Army? Deceiving. That headline should state what country’s Army to begin with.

Miles_Ignigena

This entire website is dedicated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine only. No other military/army … It is crystal clear which army is meant.

Davis

Its also a form of “clickbait”.

The thumbnail has Kalashnikovs, and other Western weapons, and conveniently talks about a new camouflage designation, being MM-25, and also mentions Ukraine in the article several times.
