Skelya Regiment Undergoes Rebranding

The well-known assault formation, the 425th Assault Regiment “Skelya”, has undergone a notable rebranding over the past several months. These changes include a renaming of the unit, as well as a redesign of the regiment’s insignia.
Unveiling of New Insignia
The new insignia was first seen on November 1, 2025, during a ceremony shown on the regiment’s official Telegram channel, where two servicemen were presented Gold Star medals, being Yehor Sydorenko and Oleksandr Shpak. Sydorenko distinguished himself in major assault and recon operations in Donetsk Oblast, while Shpak led similarly effective missions in Donetsk and Sumy, both credited with heavy enemy losses, personnel and armored, and rescuing fellow comrades.
In December 2025, it was confirmed that the new insignia spotted was, in fact, the new insignia of the regiment. The insignia appears exclusively here on MilitaryLand for the first time, redrawn by Davomme.
The new insignia preserves the core elements of its previous insignia, including the color scheme and cliffside. It features a racing green border, contrasted by a golden grass canvas. The central imagery depicts a cliffside, a reference to the regiment’s name, Skelya. Inside the cliff, there is a dagger centered horizontally, grasped by an outstretched arm, symbolizing the regiment’s assault role. At the peak of the insignia are three stars.
Alteration of Regiment’s Title
Originally designated as Skala when it was a Reconnaissance Battalion, after the call sign of its commander, Yuriy Harkavy, the regiment was renamed Skelya in August 2025. This updated spelling aligns with modern Ukrainian linguistic practices, reinforcing national identity and preserving the Ukrainian language.
The word Skala, or Skelya, translates to rock or cliff in English; the name is intended to symbolize strength and resilience within the unit.

On the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on December 6, 2025, an official ceremony was held in Kyiv by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who personally presented the regiment’s battle flag to Lieutenant Colonel Yuriy Harkavy, the commander of the 425th Assault Regiment. On this day, the new insignia of the regiment was also clearly visible to several of the unit’s personnel.
