Two former boats of US Coast Guard were delivered to Odesa in Ukraine. The boats are expected to join the fleet after trials.
Sloviansk (P190) and Starobilsk (P191), two Island-class vessels arrived on October 21 to their new homeport in Odesa. Ukraine Navy received from the US as a gift, the Ukrainian government only paid for the transport and training.
Island-class vessel:
- Built in late ’80s for US Coast Guard
- The market price is $25 million per ship
- 16 – 18 sailors, including three officers
- Up to 54 km/h
If ships successfully pass the trails, Ukraine plans to make a deal with US for four more ships of the same class.
