Operation reports are summary of what happened in Joint forces operation zone (previously known as Anti-Terrorist Operation zone or ATO) during the last week. The report includes information about combat activity, casualties, and other military related stuff.
Combat
Sporadic shelling and firefights were reported from the following places:
- Shyrokyne
- Marinka
- Avdiivka
- Svitlodarsk
- Horlivka
- Dokuchaevsk
- Donetsk
- Pisky
Casualties
August 8, 2018
- Viktor Kandalyuk (28th Mechanized Brigade) – a regular soldier, died in Donets Region. He was killed by a sniper.
- Andriy Yelistratov (14th Mechanized Brigade) – Latvia nationality, a senior intelligence officer. Killed while performing patrol by anti-tank weapon near Katerinovka.
- Dmytro Mykhaylovych (24th Mechanized Brigade) – a junior sergeant. He was killed in an ambush while performing recon patrol in the grey zone near Horlivka. The body was taken by militants but returned on August 10.
August 9, 2018
- Serhiy Tsepukh (28th Mechanized Brigade) – senior medical assistant. Killed by a sniper on the outskirts of Marinka, Donetsk region.
Military
- OSCE Special Monitoring Mission spotted a convoy of trucks entering and exiting Ukraine via the uncontrolled border with Russia
