Okhtyrka Support Regiment is now a brigade

The 91st Support Regiment of the Operational Command East, based in Okhtyrka, Sumy Oblast, has been expanded into a brigade. The decision was announced on the unit’s official social media accounts.

On February 24, 2022, the regiment’s base was among the first targets hit by Russian invasion forces. Two days later, an airstrike struck the regiment’s medical unit, killing over 70 soldiers and officers. Despite this, the regiment, supported by local territorial defense forces, never retreated and successfully defended the city until reinforcements arrived, and the area was liberated.
