MilitaryLand in 2024 and What Lies Ahead
The year 2024 was a significant year for MilitaryLand. With the support of our dedicated team of contributors, we successfully expanded our database to include the majority of Ukrainian units while keeping the existing entries updated. The substantial growth of our contributor base played a crucial role in streamlining the update process and ensuring the accuracy of our information.
In the “MilitaryLand.net in 2024 and Beyond” article last year, I mentioned my desire to refocus the website on what it was originally intended to be when I started it in 2017—focusing on Ukrainian regular and volunteer units. I’m pleased to share that this vision is now moving in the right direction. None of this would have been possible without our dedicated team of contributors: Cossack, davomme, Fisken, Jeff2146, sirdo, and Kodiak. A thank you to each of you for your invaluable contributions.
For the past few months, I’ve been promising a new design for the unit pages. It took much longer than I initially expected, as I had to revise it several times to ensure it met my standards. I’m happy to say that it’s nearly finished, and barring any major issues in the coming days, the new design will be live by the end of January.
With the new unit page design completed and the majority of Ukrainian units added to our database, you might be wondering what lies ahead for MilitaryLand in 2025. In addition to expanding and maintaining the database, we will continue to follow the Ukrainian Army and keep you informed about any significant developments, just as we did in 2024. We’ll also be launching a new article series, dedicating more time to uncovering unknown units, and much more.
Last year, I decided to pause our well-known summaries, only returning a few months later due to popular demand, this time on a monthly basis. Throughout the year, the popularity of the summaries declined, and after considering the amount of work invested by our contributor Kodiak and me, I have decided not to continue the series in 2025. Thank you to everyone who read and enjoyed it.
I would also like to express my gratitude to our Discord moderators team—EnaxTM, Cossack, Dikobraz, Evvuut, Kodiak, and Serveza—as well as to the incredible community we’ve built there over the years.
Since 2022, I have been exploring options for what to do with our Deployment map. The project was launched alongside the MilitaryLand website in 2017, and since then, the map has received regular updates. However, the map is built on technology that is not suitable for live maps or multi-user editing. I have had discussions with several people who volunteered to create a new system for us, but unfortunately, none of those efforts were successful. As difficult as it is to admit, the Deployment map is coming to an end. If you are reading this and are a PHP developer interested in creating a live map, please feel free to get in touch and we can revive this project.

If you will discontinue frontline summary reports – can you please recommend any other source that provides weekly or monthly summaries that I could follow?
You can follow frontline changes on deepstatemap and listen to Weeb Union for daily updates.
Weeb Union = russian propaganda
@Dovydas:
UA control map provides a daily summary on their twitter account, and a map with all geolocalized russian and ukrainian losses and unit positions.
For a weekly summary, the best one is probably the one by Donald Hill.
Donald Hill is great, exactly what I wanted, thank you Tristan.
