Summary of the situation on the battlefield and the recap of the previous month.

Overall SITREP:

Ukrainian forces maintain a stable front in north Kharkiv around Hlyboke and Vovchansk, but show signs of fatigue elsewhere, with numerous areas seeing small Russian gains as they exploit weakened areas. It will be another few weeks before newly mobilized forces start to filter into the Ukrainian units in any number, so Russia will take advantage whilst they can.

Russian forces successfully exploited a rotation of Ukrainian forces around Toretsk and managed to advance from 2022 borders relatively quickly towards Pivnichne, Zarichne and Niu-York, threatening Toretsk. They also managed to increase their territorial gains west of Ocheretyne down the railway line, capturing numerous small settlements and positions

Kharkiv axis

  • Ukrainian forces continue to advance slowly inside Vovchansk, with areas north of the aggregate plant being recaptured around the 26th July.
  • Around Hlyboke, the Ukrainian positions taken to the northwest of the village in early July were recaptured by Russia by the end of the month.

Kupyansk axis

  • Russian forces advanced a few kilometers into Pischane by July 20th, though since then have been unable to exploit the situation.
  • Synkivka remains well defended, with Russian assaults being filmed repelled around July 23rd.

Lyman axis

  • Russian forces advanced into Makiivka on July 12th Ukrainian forces were geolocated to hold more of the Kreminna forest than previously thought.

Siversk axis

  • Russian forces captured Rozdolivka to the north of Bakhmut, and advanced up the hill to the north by July 23rd.
  • The enemy made gains towards Ivano-Darivka.

Bakhmut axis

  • Ukrainian forces withdrew across the canal from the Kanal district of Chasiv Yar and Kalinina, after a relatively successful delaying action. Russian forces were seen attempting to cross on July 30th, but repelled.

Toretsk axis

  • At the start of July, the 24th Mechanized were withdrawn from the south of Bakhmut / Toretsk, however the rotation was exploited by Russian forces which launched a new offensive towards Pivnichne, Zalizne and Niu-York, quickly taking Shumy, Pivdenne, Mayorsk and other positions. The situation remains critical, with Russian slowly advancing through this heavily defended area throughout the rest of July.

Avdiivka axis

  • Russian forces advanced through Sokil and Voskhod, raising a flag in Voskhod by July 11th.
  • The enemy also advanced quickly down the railway line towards Prohres, entering the settlement by July 16th and pushing 5 km further down the railway. Vovche to the south was lost by July 29th, whilst Russian forces entered Vesele by July 31st.
  • Novoselivka Persha was lost by July 16th.
  • To the north, Russian forces consolidated their positions and took Lozuvatske and Novooleksandrivka.

Novopavlivka axis

  • Russian forces captured Krasnohorivka in its entirety by July 30th.
  • Despite very heavy mechanized attacks and losses, Russian forces were unable to improve their positions much to the south of Marinka, but did enter Kostyantynivka to the west of Novomykhailivka.
  • The enemy managed to advance west towards Vodyane.

Velyka Novosilka axis

  • Russian forces captured the north of Urozhaine, and raised the flag on July 13th.

Kherson axis

  • Ukrainian marines and aligned units retreated from Krynky.

Adding to Jerome’s recap, I’ll mention the Russians have captured 184,29 km2 and 11 settlements in July.

Tristan

July was a difficult month for Ukraine at the frontline.

August is much better.

Thanks for the sumary !

Kay

Does anyone know which UA units are involved in the Kursk offensive? Probably the two Russian battalions, but I think there will be others.

Some say 3 brigades, some say as many as 8 brigades. Mostly agreed are elements of 80th and 82nd AirAssault, 22nd and 116th Mech. brigades, but it’s not clear that those brigades are deployed in their entirety. The deployment-map on this side shows some units.

Our deployment map is regularly updated and should reflect the latest available info.
