The summary of the most important things that happened on February 18.
Alleged attack by Ukrainian forces
Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) claimed they foiled an attack by Ukrainian Special Forces near Horlivka. They also released a video of the attack, recorded by either Ukrainian or Pro-Russian forces. Ukraine denied such attack. We don’t know for certain if it happened, or the video was staged.
Shelling on the frontline
Both sides accused each other of shelling the towns. Neither side reports KIA.
Evacuation of the occupied towns
Leaders of Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republic announced evacuation of all civilian population due to deteriorating situation. First evacuation buses appeared almost instantly in the big towns. The civilians, who wants to be evacuated, are being transported to Russia, primarily to Rostov-on-Don.
However, videos from the evacuation looks to be staged or there is a little interest in the evacuation.
Car explosion in Donetsk
A car exploded in front of the government building in Donetsk shortly after the evacuation began. The vehicle was a military UAZ. DPR accused Ukrainian forces and they denied it.
Two explosions in Luhansk
A powerful explosion rocket Luhansk in the evening. A gas pipeline is on fire as the result. The second explosion followed a several minutes later. Locals reported an explosion at a gas station in the northern part of Luhansk.
