British warships heads to Black Sea
Two ships of the Royal Navy will sail to Black Sea next month amid rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
The movement of ships is a showcase of solidarity with Ukraine. One Daring class destroyer armed with anti-aircraft missiles and an anti-submarine Duke class frigate will leave Royal Navy’s task group in the Mediterranean sea and head through the Bosporus into the Black Sea.
The rest of the group, including the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth will remain in the Mediterranean sea because aircraft carriers aren’t allowed to enter the Black Sea. However, they will provide support to warships if needed. RAF F-35B and Merlin submarine-hunting helicopters are stationed on the HMS.
They should enter the Black Sea in May.
