225th Assault Battalion received Marders

225th Assault Battalion announced on social media that it has received 1A3 Marder infantry fighting vehicles. This makes it the second unit within the Ground Forces, and the fourth unit overall, to receive these vehicles. Marders are also in service with the 100th Mechanized Brigade, the 25th Airborne Brigade, and the 82nd Air Assault Brigade. This decision is a logical step to enhance the combat capabilities of the assault battalion.

In recent news, the battalion also announced an expansion of its personnel. Whether this is a step towards an official upgrade to a regiment or brigade remains to be seen.

225th Assault Battalion is a unit of the Ground Forces of Ukraine. Originally formed in March 2022 as the 225th Territorial Defense Battalion, it was restructured in July 2023 as the 225th Assault Battalion and placed under the command of the Ground Forces.
