155th Brigade becomes mechanized with Leopards
The Ukrainian 155th Infantry Brigade has been restructured into a mechanized brigade, as confirmed by members of its 3rd Battalion and volunteers associated with the unit. A portion of the brigade is currently in Poland, training with Western equipment, while other elements are supporting the ongoing Ukrainian offensive in Kursk Oblast.
The brigade’s tank battalion is set to receive Western Leopard 2A4 tanks, with the crews currently training in Poland on tanks from the 10th Armored Brigade of the Polish Armed Forces, under the instruction of Norwegian soldiers. This was reported by the Norwegian television TV2. The equipment for the mechanized battalions remains unknown.
Col. Dmytro Ryumshin has been appointed as the commander of the brigade. If the name sounds familiar, you’re correct. Ryumshin previously commanded the 33rd Mechanized Brigade and later led the 47th Mechanized Brigade during the defense of Avdiivka, but after just two months in command, Ukrainian high command questioned the brigade’s performance and relieved him of his duties, as we reported in March.
