142nd and 143rd Brigades Become Mechanized

The Command of the Ground Forces of Ukraine has announced the reformation of the 142nd and 143rd Infantry Brigades into mechanized units via their social media platforms. The 142nd Brigade updated its graphic description on January 2, 2025, while the 143rd Brigade changed its Facebook page name on January 6, 2025.

These brigades join the 141st Mechanized Brigade, which completed its transition in December 2024. We were the first to write about it on December 15. It is highly likely that the 142nd and 143rd Brigades also underwent reformation in December 2024, though this information has only now been made public.

Currently, the 144th Infantry Brigade is the sole remaining infantry unit among the 140-series brigades. Given the trend of reformation, it is expected that the transition of the 144th Brigade will be announced in the near future.
