Leopard 2A6 is a German-made main battle tank, introduced in 2001. Known for its advanced armor and firepower, it is equipped with a 120mm smoothbore gun and powered by a 1,500 hp engine. Weighing 62.3 tons, it has a top speed of 72 km/h and an operational range of 550 km. The Leopard 2A6 is operated by a 4-person crew and remains one of the most capable and widely used tanks in modern armored warfare. Entering service with the 47th Mechanized Brigade in 2023 the small fleet in Ukrainian service suffered losses before eventually finding their way into the 21st Mechanized Brigade’s tank battalion alongside Swedish STRV122s as a collection of the most modern NATO main battle tanks in Ukrainian service.
