A renowned solo world traveller, she returned to Ukraine at the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, where she joined a volunteer battalion. In June 2023, she began to serve alongside a combat unit known as “Group Brazilian” – a contingent of Brazilian volunteers fighting in Ukraine. By March 2025, she joined the 3rd Assault Brigade and now commands the Serpent Company, a Portuguese unit within the brigade’s International Rifle Battalion. This makes her the brigade’s first known female company commander.
