Unit of Karpatska Sich Battalion Joins 3rd Army Corps (Updated)

Officials of the 49th Assault Battalion reached out to us and clarified that the 2nd Company “White Demons” has not existed since at least mid-2024. The name was changed following a change in the company’s leadership. At the same time, the 2nd Company of the 49th Separate Assault Battalion «Karpatska Sich» continues to exist and carry out combat tasks within the battalion. The unmanned systems unit named “White Demons” was created and is led by a former serviceman of 49th Assault Battalion together with his deputy. No other servicemen or units of the Karpatska Sich Battalion have any relation to this formation.

Отже 3-го армійського корпусу continues to advance its reformation and standardization across all brigades under its jurisdiction. For the last few months, the 60th Mechanized and 125th Heavy Mechanized Brigades have been undergoing significant changes to their leadership, training, and combat structure, becoming much more effective formations.

This process also includes the integration of volunteers across the entire Ukrainian Defense Forces to help bolster its ranks and bring these brigades up to speed.

Departure of Signum Battalion

Recently, the Signum Unmanned Systems Battalion separated from the 53rd Mechanized Brigade, a unit of Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps, and was reassigned to the 59th Assault Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces. The move places the battalion once again under the command of its former brigade commander, Colonel Oleksandr Sak.

During the transfer process, the battalion began training new recruits to form a replacement unmanned systems unit within the 53rd Mechanized Brigade, ensuring continuity of drone warfare capabilities after its departure.

Scaling of Karpatska Sich Sotnya

On April 9, 2026, the 2-га штурмова рота, also known as the “White Demon” Sotnya, announced across its social channels that they were departing from the ranks of the 49-й штурмовий батальйон, and being scaled into an Батальйон безпілотних систем within the 53-тя механізована бригада.

In recent months, the 3rd Army Corps has sourced some of its personnel from the Karpatska Sich Battalion, including the Німецький добровольчий корпус, which transferred to the ranks of the 60th Mechanized Brigade around December 2025.

In accordance with the transfer of the company into the brigade, it has also received a new insignia to match the standardization process within the 3rd Army Corps, adopting the traditional pointed chevron famously seen across the corps. The insignia has been redrawn in high-quality definition for MilitaryLand.

The insignia features a pointed chevron in black and grey, with a ceremonial version available in midnight blue and tree poppy yellow. At its center is a stylized demon, serving as a direct homage to the unit’s former identity when it belonged to the Karpatska Sich Battalion. The lower portion of the chevron incorporates the distinctive Troika symbol, representing the corps designation and reinforcing the unit’s new affiliation.

By consolidating experienced fighters from diverse backgrounds into a cohesive structure, the corps is able to rapidly scale combat effectiveness more efficiently. This process not only strengthens individual brigades but also enhances the overall capability of the corps as a unified, adaptive fighting force in its area of operations.
