General Staff Suspends Recruitment to Assault Regiments Amid Personnel Review

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has launched an inspection of military manning and personnel distribution, temporarily suspending the admission of new recruits to several assault regiments.

According to TSN, citing military sources, the review comes amid the formation of new brigades and aims to ensure a more balanced allocation of personnel across the Armed Forces. The process is also linked to the ongoing transformation of assault regiments into Rapid Reaction Forces.

Ukrainska Pravda reported that, by order of the Commander-in-Chief, the transfer of personnel to assault units of the Ground Forces was suspended from midnight on July 26.

Before the decision, at least two assault regiments — the 425th “Skala” and the 225th — reportedly had priority access to continuous recruitment and expansion.

The 1st Assault Regiment підтверджено that its recruitment process has been paused, while the 425th Assault Regiment reported a similar situation. New recruits are still arriving at the 225th Assault Regiment, although recruitment through the Central Military District has been suspended.

There has been no official confirmation from the 24th, 25th, 33rd, 210th and 253rd Assault Regiments, though recruitment to these units may also have been halted.

The suspension does not affect the 3rd Assault Brigade, operating under the 3rd Army Corps; the 5th Assault Brigade of the 12th Army Corps; or the 92nd Assault Brigade of the 14th Army Corps.
