
Svyatoslav company (Рота Святослав), previously known as Battalion Kirovograd, is a volunteer unit established in the Kirovohrad region. Kirovohrad battalion was deployed to liberated Debaltsevo to protect public order in 2014. On December 10, 2016, Kirovograd battalion was renamed to Svyatoslav, in honor of Prince Svyatoslav. In 2018, the battalion was reorganized into a company and its staff reduced to 90 soldiers.

Russian forces began an assault on Vuhlehirsk from multiple directions. Ukrainian defence lines collapsed after several days. Multiple counterattacks were launched but all failed.
