The Armed Forces of Ukraine are forming a new artillery brigade in the Ground Forces. This was revealed by fundraisers on social media platforms such as Facebook <\/a>and Instagram<\/a>, the 50th Artillery Brigade is already operating in the Sumy and Chernihiv directions of the frontline, performing combat tasks. The artillery brigade also has its own Facebook social channel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MilitaryLand has recently uncovered, as the first news outlet, the creation of multiple artillery brigades, which are being formed as part of the transition of the Armed Forces to the corps - brigade structure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These included the 52nd Artillery Brigade<\/a> as part of the 3rd Army Corps<\/a>, the 54th Artillery Brigade<\/a> as part of the 17th Army Corps<\/a>, the 60th Artillery Brigade<\/a> as part of the 20th Army Corps<\/a>, the 68th Artillery Brigade<\/a> as part of the 21st Army Corps<\/a>, and finally, the 147th Artillery Brigade<\/a> as part of the 7th Rapid Response Corps<\/a> in the Air Assault Troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Final Artillery Brigade<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The newly revealed 50th Artillery Brigade is the final brigade to be formed and assigned under the corps formations. It is expected to become part of the 14th Army Corps, which has not yet had an artillery brigade integrated into its structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 49th Artillery Brigade, last mentioned on June 13, 2024, likely no longer exists. In October 2025, MilitaryLand <\/em>was the first to report <\/a>on a new artillery brigade formation in the Ukrainian Ground Forces, the 50th Artillery Brigade<\/a>. More information has been recently revealed, including unit's insignia and the commander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Details about the unit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The artillery brigade was formed on the basis of an artillery battalion from the 44th Artillery Brigade and is subordinated to the 14th Army Corps of the Ground Forces. According to a certificate obtained by MilitaryLand, the unit was assigned military unit number A5177 and is commanded by Colonel Andriy Hresko, who previously served as Chief of Staff of the 44th Artillery Brigade. The 50th Artillery Brigade operates Ukrainian made 2S22 Bohdana howitzers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The insignia depicts a chevron with a yellow border, and a red canvas, a homage to the colors used by artillery troops of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. The central imagery depicts four, symmetrical yellow chevrons, formed inwards towards the center of the insignia, evenly spaced to form a cross shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
