MilitaryLand was contacted by an official representative of the Kraken Detachment regarding our original story. We were informed that the recruiter on Reddit\u2019s \/r\/ukraineforeignlegion<\/a> did not have approval to share the details on which our article was based, and the recruiter deleted his post at Kraken\u2019s request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, we were told that while part of the unmanned component of the Kraken Detachment has requested to join the 3rd Army Corps, this move has not yet been approved by officials. The claim about the transfer of the entire Kraken Detachment to the 3rd Army Corps, shared by a second recruiter on the same subreddit, has been debunked by Kraken\u2019s official representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both posts have since been deleted. We have honored Kraken\u2019s request and removed the section about them from our original story. We thank the Kraken Detachment for keeping us informed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, after many months, we have our first confirmation on some information regarding the 3rd Army Corps<\/a>, one of the newly formed corps, dating back to March 2025, and was formed on the basis of the 3rd Assault Brigade<\/a>. There is a lot of information to unpack, and it comes from a recruiter responsible for foreign volunteers in the brigade on the Ukrainian Foreign Legion subreddit<\/a>, which is used as a way to find more information about joining and is also used as an unofficial recruitment platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kraken joins the Corps<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

It has been revealed, interestingly enough, that the Kraken Special Unit<\/a>, which is subordinated to Ukraine's Main Directorate of Intelligence<\/a>, is being integrated into the 3rd Army Corps. This unanticipated move was referenced by members of the Kraken FPV Drone Company<\/a> on May 16, 2025, on a Telegram post<\/a>, which emphasized the necessity of unifying and improving the capabilities of Ukrainian military units to achieve a better result on the front. The post stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Sooner or later, the time for change comes, to alter the course of the war, to reconsider decisions, to unite with fighters who worked in other directions, to create a more large-scale mission, to combine skills in pursuit of a common goal. Not to seek competition, but to think together, how to reach a new level of technological capability.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

According to the recruiter on Reddit, foreigners in Kraken remain under the Main Directorate of Intelligence, while all Ukrainians are being transferred to the 3rd Army Corps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

60th Mechanized Brigade enters the corps<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

The 60th Mechanized Brigade<\/a> of the Ground Forces has been reassigned from the 11th Army Corps<\/a> to the 3rd Army Corps. This follows speculations due to its proximity to the 3rd Assault Brigade on the frontline in the Luhansk direction. The brigade includes the 97th Mechanized Battalion<\/a>, which was formed on the basis of the Azov-Kharkiv in 2023, and is closely aligned with Kraken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few more brigades are reportedly being placed under the command of the 3rd Army Corps, although this has yet to be officially announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Units are being formed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Several support units have been created or elevated to the corps level. A dedicated Unmanned Systems Regiment<\/a> has also been formed within the Corps, being discovered in March 2025. The regiment was formed on the basis of the Unmanned Systems Battalion<\/a> as part of the 3rd Assault Brigade, having immense experience with many drones. The brigade has also used its influence to scale up the use of the Killhouse Drone Academy to help train and improve drone pilots. A separate Technical Intelligence Unit is also being established, most probably at a company or battalion scale, focused on the use of drones, electronic warfare, and enemy surveillance and detection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The brigade\u2019s medical service was also scaled up to a corps-level unit earlier in May 2025, and as of mid-June 2025, according to the recruitment platform LobbyX, it was reformed and established as the 4th Separate Medical Battalion<\/a>, confirming that each corps will likely contain a separate medical battalion. In addition, a new Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment named \"Aquila\"<\/strong> has been identified within the corps. Like the medical battalion, the Anti-Aircraft Missile Division belonging to the 3rd Assault Brigade was elevated into a corps-level unit, now becoming a regiment, once again confirming that each corps will likely contain a separate Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reconnaissance battalion of the brigade has been established as a separate unit within the corps. The unit retains its structure and includes units such as Tempest Group<\/a>, a foreign formation that had been founded by former members of Chosen Company<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade's Engineering Support Group<\/a> announced on his personal Telegram channel that he was concluding his military service in the group and would soon begin a recruitment campaign for a new engineering unit that would be subordinated to the 3rd Army Corps. We can also confirm the establishment of a new communications unit, the 122nd Communications Battalion<\/a>. Little information is known about this unit, but judging by the trend of many of these new corps-level support units, it was likely built on the basis of the Signals Company<\/a> of the 3rd Assault Brigade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newly established 3rd Army Corps<\/a>, formed on the basis of the legendary and battle-hardened 3rd Assault Brigade<\/a>, has officially been announced across its social media platforms after much<\/span> anticipation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MilitaryLand recently uncovered<\/a> the first information regarding the corps, including the confirmation that the 60th Mechanized Brigade<\/a> had joined, alongside many other support units that were forming or being elevated to the corps level. This information was revealed from a foreign recruiter of the 3rd Assault Brigade, which was eventually taken down on the UkraineForeignLegion subreddit<\/a>, where it was originally shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Influence of the Corps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today, on August 4, 2025, the 3rd Assault Brigade reorganized and rebranded its social media channels into the 3rd Army Corps. An announcement was also published by the corps commander, Andriy Biletskiy, who confirmed that the unit had been formed in the spring of 2025, which was March, when it was first formally announced, and also spoke about the mission the corps is undertaking on the front<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Our bridgehead is the last line of defense for Northern Donbas and Kharkiv region. The corps holds about 150 km - approximately 12% or 1\/8 of the entire front line. It can be confidently stated that the Third Corps is already influencing the course of this war<\/em>,\" said Biletskyi.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The decision to rebrand and reorganize its channels echoes the similarity with the Azov Brigade<\/a> and the 1st Azov Corps<\/a> rebranding, with the brigade's socials being rebranded due to the significant influence and following it already has.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New assignments to the Corps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As previously mentioned, the 60th Mechanized Brigade joined the corps in July 2025, being disclosed by recruiters affiliated with the 3rd Assault Brigade. As of August 4, 2025, it has now been confirmed that two more brigades have joined the formation. The first being the 53rd Mechanized Brigade<\/a>, which currently held positions in the Serebryansky forest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 63rd Mechanized Brigade<\/a> has also been placed under the command of the corps and has been working extensively in the Luhansk direction alongside the 60th Brigade for some time. This was indicated through the brigade's social media channels, reposting the announcement of the corps, signalling formal affiliation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with the other corps assignments, it is expected that it will include a heavy mechanized brigade and a dedicated artillery brigade. At present, however, no specific units have been confirmed to be assigned to the corps. Some recently restructured Territorial Defense Brigades, being reformed into heavy mechanized structures, remain possible candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
