corps-level artillery formation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September 2025, the Commander in Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, dismissed two corps commanders from the Ukrainian Ground Forces, including Colonel Volodymyr Silenko of the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/17th-army-corps\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"45088\">17-\u0439 \u0430\u0440\u043c\u0456\u0439\u0441\u044c\u043a\u0438\u0439 \u043a\u043e\u0440\u043f\u0443\u0441<\/a> and Maksym Kituhin of the 20th Army Corps. A month later, Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Korsukov had been appointed to the position of corps commander, replacing Maksym Kituhin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the beginning of 2026, its entire combat core was fully completed, consisting of the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/17th-tank-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"11892\">17th Heavy Mechanized<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/23rd-mechanized-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"17789\">23rd Mechanized Brigades<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/23rd-reconnaissance-battalion\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"20342\">23-\u0439 \u0440\u043e\u0437\u0432\u0456\u0434\u0443\u0432\u0430\u043b\u044c\u043d\u0438\u0439 \u0431\u0430\u0442\u0430\u043b\u044c\u0439\u043e\u043d<\/a>, \u0432 \"The <a the spring 2026, the corps temporarily commands the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/air-assault-forces\/82nd-airassault-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"18618\">82nd<\/a> \u0456 <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/air-assault-forces\/95th-airassault-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"14650\">95th Air Assault<\/a> Brigades, <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/air-assault-forces\/148th-artillery-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"15880\">148-\u0430 \u0430\u0440\u0442\u0438\u043b\u0435\u0440\u0456\u0439\u0441\u044c\u043a\u0430 \u0431\u0440\u0438\u0433\u0430\u0434\u0430<\/a> and other units of the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/air-assault-troops\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"36948\">DSHV <\/a>forces, the elit\u00e8 <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/92nd-mechanized-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"15636\">92-\u0430 \u0448\u0442\u0443\u0440\u043c\u043e\u0432\u0430 \u0431\u0440\u0438\u0433\u0430\u0434\u0430<\/a> and the reorganized <a We <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/news\/the-formation-of-the-3rd-army-corps-is-underway\/\">recently covered<\/a> the establishment of the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/3rd-army-corps\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"44237\">3rd Army Corps<\/a> on the basis of the 3rd Assault Brigade; with the commander being Andriy Biletskiy,<a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/news\/khartia-serves-as-basis-for-the-new-army-corps\/\"> as well as a corps being<\/a> formed on the basis of the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/national-guard\/khartia-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"18810\">Khartia Brigade<\/a> of the Ukrainian National Guard.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>It has been discovered that the command is forming several new Army Corps units; these being - the 15th, 18th, and 20th Army Corps. Information on these formations is scarce, though it is known that two of them have received their insignia, and the first-mentioned is based in Rivne Oblast. This was also acknowledged by President Zelenskyy; stating that the process of forming corps needed to be sped up. It is also important to note that previously existing corps in the history of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, such as the 13th Army Corps, are unlikely to be raised up again. Meanwhile, the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/19th-army-corps\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"45090\">19th Army Corps<\/a> has recently moved into the Toretsk and Kostyantynivka area, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/20th-army-corps\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"44412\">20th Army Corps<\/a> has been deployed to positions south of Pokrovsk.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/air-assault-forces\/7th-air-assault-corps\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"26772\">7th Rapid Response Corps<\/a> is set to assume control of one of the most challenging sections of the frontline\u2014the Pokrovsk direction\u2014where it will support the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/9th-army-corps\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"22604\">9th Army Corps<\/a> already operating in the area. At the same time, new corps-level units\u2014such as drone teams, reconnaissance elements, and engineering detachments\u2014are being formed from the remnants of other, already existing brigades.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><em>\u201cOut of the 11 brigades operating within the corps' area, only three are actually ours,\u201d<\/em> one officer told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pravda.com.ua\/articles\/2025\/07\/28\/7523689\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ukrainska Pravda<\/a>. <em>\u201cIn the corps\u2019 fire support unit, only half the personnel are artillerymen\u2014the rest are officers, engineers, and topographers. Our drone battalion is being formed from a rifle battalion of one of the brigades. They have neither drones nor any experience in operating them.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The use of temporarily assigned units follows the same system that the previous tactical and operational-tactical groups operated under\u2014and has proven to be ineffective.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Another challenge is that units belonging to a single corps are currently spread out along the frontline. For instance, the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/national-guard\/1st-azov-corps\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"45530\">1st Azov Corps<\/a> has the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/national-guard\/azov-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"11913\">Azov Brigade<\/a> positioned south of Kostyantynivka, temporarily under the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/19th-army-corps\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"45090\">19th Army Corps<\/a>' command, while the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/national-guard\/bureviy-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"17478\">Bureviy Brigade<\/a> is deployed near Kupyansk\u2014over 100 kilometers apart.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The situation is somewhat different with the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/3rd-army-corps\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"44237\">3rd Army Corps<\/a>, which is among the strongest and most motivated formations within the Defense Forces.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><em>\u201cThis is purely political. Biletsky holds too much authority, and the military leadership is doing everything they can to delay the deployment of his corps,\u201d<\/em> a source told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pravda.com.ua\/articles\/2025\/07\/28\/7523689\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ukrainska Pravda<\/a>.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Despite the challenges, the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/3rd-army-corps\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"44237\">3rd Army Corps<\/a> continues to steadily assume control of the frontline in the Lyman direction and has already demonstrated positive results. Unlike the Tactical Group Kreminna, which previously held this sector, the 3rd Army Corps command does not pressure units to retake lost positions at all costs. Through our research, we managed to find that in 2023, he served as commander of the 64th Territorial Defense Battalion. A photo on social media dated December 14, 2023, shows he held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nus.in.ua\/novyny-zolochivschyny\/5056-vtretye-u-zolochevi-delegaciya-iz-mini-milich.html\">nus.in.ua<\/a> portal, in March 2024 he was acting commander of the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade. This aligns with the brigade's timeline, as the commander of the 103rd Brigade, Valery Kurk, <a href=\"https:\/\/zaxid.net\/komandira_lvivskoyi_103_brigadi_tro_valeriya_kurka_zvilnili_z_posadi_n1578939\">was dismissed<\/a> from his post on February 14, 2024.
