In February 2022, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi <\/a>joined the\u00a0\u0421\u0438\u043b\u0438 \u0442\u0435\u0440\u0438\u0442\u043e\u0440\u0456\u0430\u043b\u044c\u043d\u043e\u0457 \u043e\u0431\u043e\u0440\u043e\u043d\u0438<\/a> and served as a platoon leader into 206th Battalion<\/a> \u043f\u0440\u043e \u0440\u043e\u0437\u0448\u0438\u0440\u0435\u043d\u043d\u044f\u00a0112-\u0442\u0430 \u0431\u0440\u0438\u0433\u0430\u0434\u0430 \u0442\u0435\u0440\u0438\u0442\u043e\u0440\u0456\u0430\u043b\u044c\u043d\u043e\u0457 \u043e\u0431\u043e\u0440\u043e\u043d\u0438<\/a><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following full-scale invasion of Ukraine, his small unit took part in the evacuation of civilians from Irpin during the battle for the city, and took part in fighting in Bucha and Borodianka. With the ukranian victory in the Kyiv front by April 2022, the battalion, now part of the <\/a>241-\u0430 \u0431\u0440\u0438\u0433\u0430\u0434\u0430 \u0442\u0435\u0440\u0438\u0442\u043e\u0440\u0456\u0430\u043b\u044c\u043d\u043e\u0457 \u043e\u0431\u043e\u0440\u043e\u043d\u0438<\/a>, was relocated in the frontline active in the Kherson oblast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making most of his entrepreneurial skills and understanding the possibilities offered by drones, Brovdi raised funds to buy a “fleet of drones”, with which he set up the aerial reconnaissance unit “Birds of Madyar”, that operated incorporated 28-\u0430 \u043c\u0435\u0445\u0430\u043d\u0456\u0437\u043e\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0430 \u0431\u0440\u0438\u0433\u0430\u0434\u0430<\/a>. In August 2022 the small unit started operating the first FPV attack drones, and later took part in the battle that brought to the liberation of Kherson in november.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following that campaign, the Birds fought for the defence of Bakhmut in early 2023, then being very often redeployed in critical sectors of the frontline, attached as a separate company into the 59-\u0442\u0430 \u043e\u043a\u0440\u0435\u043c\u0430 \u043c\u043e\u0442\u043e\u043f\u0456\u0445\u043e\u0442\u043d\u0430 \u0431\u0440\u0438\u0433\u0430\u0434\u0430<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January 2024 the unit was reorganized into the 414th Separate Battalion of Strike Unmanned Aviation Systems (SBSUAS), and was transferred to the \u041c\u043e\u0440\u0441\u044c\u043a\u0430 \u043f\u0456\u0445\u043e\u0442\u0430<\/a> \u043f\u0440\u043e \u0440\u043e\u0437\u0448\u0438\u0440\u0435\u043d\u043d\u044f \u0412\u0456\u0439\u0441\u044c\u043a\u043e\u0432\u043e-\u043c\u043e\u0440\u0441\u044c\u043a\u0456 \u0441\u0438\u043b\u0438 \u0423\u043a\u0440\u0430\u0457\u043d\u0438<\/a>, starting the formation of the structural core repair, training, and support units. The Birds partecipated throughout all 8 months of harsh combats at the Krynky bridgehead in the left bank of the Dnipro river in Kherson oblast, and later carried out combat missions in Kharkiv Oblast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the end of June the battalion was expanded into a separate strike regiment<\/a> within the structure of the 30-\u0439 \u043a\u043e\u0440\u043f\u0443\u0441 \u043c\u043e\u0440\u0441\u044c\u043a\u043e\u0457 \u043f\u0456\u0445\u043e\u0442\u0438<\/a>, established an UAV repair base and started the formation of a drone operator training schools, plus an EW and ELINT units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From then on, Madyar’s Birds have been deployed in the Pokrovsk front, being a key element in favour of ukranian defences in one of the hottest sector of the frontline since mid 2024. Units of the 414th also have been carrying out combat missions in the Kursk front and Sumy oblast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December 2024 the regiment was expanded<\/a>, becoming officially the 414th Unmanned Strike Aviation Brigade “Birds of Madyar”, and later was transferred from the \u041c\u043e\u0440\u0441\u044c\u043a\u0430 \u043f\u0456\u0445\u043e\u0442\u0430<\/a> \u0434\u043e \u0421\u0443\u0445\u043e\u043f\u0443\u0442\u043d\u0456 \u0432\u0456\u0439\u0441\u044c\u043a\u0430<\/a> \u043f\u0440\u043e \u0440\u043e\u0437\u0448\u0438\u0440\u0435\u043d\u043d\u044f \u0417\u0431\u0440\u043e\u0439\u043d\u0456 \u0441\u0438\u043b\u0438 \u0423\u043a\u0440\u0430\u0457\u043d\u0438<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June 2025 Robert Brovdi was appointed as the new commander<\/a> \u043f\u0440\u043e \u0440\u043e\u0437\u0448\u0438\u0440\u0435\u043d\u043d\u044f \u0421\u0438\u043b\u0438 \u0431\u0435\u0437\u043f\u0456\u043b\u043e\u0442\u043d\u0438\u0445 \u0441\u0438\u0441\u0442\u0435\u043c<\/a>, replaceing Vadym Sukharevskyi, the first leader of this newest branch of the Armed Forces<\/a>. Subsequently, Leutenent Andriy Klimenko became the new commander of the brigade, that joined the Unmanned Systems Grouping of Forces (USFG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2025 the brigade was transferred<\/a> from the Unmanned Systems of the Ground Forces, also known as the \u201cDrone Line,\u201d to the \u0421\u0438\u043b\u0438 \u0431\u0435\u0437\u043f\u0456\u043b\u043e\u0442\u043d\u0438\u0445 \u0441\u0438\u0441\u0442\u0435\u043c<\/a>, and finally received its battle flag <\/a>in December.

The 414th Battalion of Unmanned Strike Aircraft Systems has been expanded to a regiment. The expansion was revealed by the commander, Robert Brovdi, on his Telegram channel<\/a>. In light of this expansion, the command has announced the recruitment of volunteers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tactical Group Adam, known for its combat missions in the area of Bakhmut in 2022 and 2023, reinforced the ranks of Birds of Magyar regiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the ongoing reformation, the command emphasized that the units currently deployed to the front will not leave the combat zone and will continue to perform their assigned tasks. On December 31, 2024, Robert \"Madyar\" Brovdi, the commander of the 414th Drone Strike Regiment, announced via his Telegram<\/a> that the regiment had been expanded into a brigade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unit was founded by Ukrainian businessman Robert Brovdi, known by the call sign \"Madyar.\" On February 7, 2022, he joined the Territorial Defense Forces, where at the beginning of the invasion, he was appointed platoon commander and carried out combat tasks. The Drone Line<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Unmanned Systems of the Ground Forces were established in 2024 as a result of dissatisfaction within the higher command regarding the development of the Unmanned Systems Forces. At the time, there was not enough political leverage to dismiss the commander, Vadym Sukharevsky, so a parallel drone structure was created instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June 2025, Sukharevsky was dismissed and replaced by Robert Brovdy, then commander of the 414th Brigade. One of Brovdy\u2019s first steps was to establish a unified grouping of forces, bringing together all drone units from both the Ground Forces and the Unmanned Systems Forces under a single command structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
